You fail to mention how Everyman's fate is a metaphor for his entire life. Remember his ironic loyalty to "american made" cars and then the model that runs him down? These details cannot be overlooked. And what about TCWNVB's blindness and miraculous recovery once she accepts mediocraty as her own personal saviour? Yes, she takes the book deal, but it's not for herself, remember, it's for her children (in hopes that it will attract them into her life once again), and her cats (who require all kinds of pet therapy). I hope you read The Latest Novel again and this time read it with your heart mr. smartypants and not your ego.
